Highway 97 Sintich Road to Continental Way Overpass
Prince George, British Columbia    

Description: In April 2009, Pennecon Heavy Civil Ltd. was awarded the $12 million contract for the construction of the Highway 97 Sintich Road to Continental way Overpass in Prince George, B.C.

The construction consists of upgrading Hwy 97 to a four lane standard with the addition of two travel lanes and a median over 3.5 km. (More...)

Description: In March 2008, Pennecon Heavy Civil Ltd. was awarded the $8.1 million contract for the construction of the Chinchaga River Bridge located 74km west of the town of High Level, Alberta.

Carseland-Bow River Headworks System

Description: Awarded in April 2008 and completed in May 2009, the Travers Inlet Structure was a $12.65 million dollar project located at the North End of the Travers Reservoir in southeastern Alberta.

The structure is approximately 175 kms southeast of Calgary and forms an integral component of the Carseland-Bow River Headworks System. (More...)



St. John’s Harbor Authority

Description: Caisson construction involving 24-hour fabrication and installation of rebar to accommodate a continuous slip-forming concrete pour on floating platforms.



Transshipment Facility – Phase I, II & III
Whiffen Head, NL   

Description: The Newfoundland Transhipment Terminal, located in Placentia Bay, serves as a crude oil transfer and storage facility servicing the Hibernia offshore oil fields. Pennecon Heavy Civil supplied the following components to the project: 100 ton mooring dolphins, a loading platform, precast manholes, roadway link trestles, and a concrete ring wall for the tank farm with a total value of construction at over $35 million.



St. Lawrence 27MW Wind Energy Project
St. Lawrence, NL     

Description: Pennecon was awarded the design-build contract for Newfoundland and Labradors first commercial wind farm ever erected in Newfoundland and Labrador. The 27MW Wind Energy Project will be located near the town of St. Larwence on the Burin Peninsula.



Rattling Brook Penstock Replacement
Norris Arm, NL    

Description: The Rattling Brook Hydroelectric Development is the largest generation station owned by Newfoundland Power (NP).  It is located approximately 50km west of Gander in the town of Norris Arm. The Project includes the demolition and disposal of the existing 1700m woodstave penstock and replacement of a new 2896mm diameter steel penstock.  The contract also includes the construction of concrete piers, anchor blocks and a new access road.



Activated Sludge & Water Treatment Project
Grand Falls-Windsor, NL  

Description:  The Activated Sludge and Water Treatment Project was a $7.5 million dollar project located at the Abitibi Consolidated Inc. paper mill in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador.



Precast Tunnel Structures, Canada Line Project
Vancouver, BC     

Description: Pennecon Limited was awarded a $14 million contract to manufacture precast tunnel ring segments for the Canada Line Project in Vancouver. This work is being done at ABC Precast & Ready Mix Ltd., part of the Pennecon Heavy Civil Division located in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.



Fairview Container Terminal Conversion
Prince Rupert Port Authority, BC    

Description: This project, valued at approximately $50 million, is a joint venture between Pennecon’s Heavy Civil Division and BA Blacktop of Vancouver. Work commenced in May 2006 and was completed in August 2007 on-time and on-budget. The project involved upgrading the existing site into a state-of-the-art transshipment facility with modern technologies including: electrical equipment, fuel facility, overhead cranes, wastewater treatment, high mast lighting, water and sewer facilitator and paving of the entire 60 acre site.
